Over the top
Even though Carmi and I have never discussed adoption from Korea, it still sucks to know that we have aged out of an international adoption program as I discovered this morning.
45 is the limit.
We’re over the top.
Bleck.

What we dislike about Fall
I love Fall.
But there’s two things about Fall that Carmi and I both despise… spiders and school fundraisers.
Listen.
I know our schools are hurting for money.
But we don’t have a money tree in our back yard either.
Now every kid at church is going to hit us up come Sunday wanting us to buy cookies or cookie dough or candy or wrapping paper or any one of a hundred other things that we neither need nor want.
And I’ll end up being the bad guy ‘cause I’ll have to smile and say “no thanks” and then watch the poor kids slump and walk away.
Then Monday will roll around and half a dozen dads in the plant will totally ignore the “NO SOLICITATION” sign that I’m sure will be hanging from my office door. They’ll saunter in and try to throw a guilt trip on behalf of THEIR children.
Now.
Now our own kiddos have been sucked in.
They’re being asked to sell goods in exchange for disappearing trick erasers, light-up whistles, putty, clicker clacker pens, groovy glitter lamps and so much more.
No, I take that back.
Carmi and I will be expected to sell goods in exchange for those awesome prizes.
And we’re not salespersons.
So we’ll have the added responsibility of convincing Zane, Eliana and Karys that they don’t need a flying Xylo launcher, battery-operated excuse talking keychain or 6” flashlight with multi-color flasher anyway.
Ugh.

I Feel Better Already
Curse you, bee!Oh yeah...I'm talkin' to you...the one that stung my jaw on Tuesday evening.
The itch is driving me insane and thanks to you, I feel like scratching the left side of my face off.
I hope you died a slow and painful death!

Do Unto Others
There's not much about the evil in this world that surprises or shocks me anymore but this article from The Charlotte Observer literally makes me feel nauseous when I read it. I truly feel that thisPeggy Sue Hilt, 33, of Wake Forest, was arrested and charged last week with second-degree murder in her daughter Nina's death in Manassas, Va., where she was visiting relatives.
Hilt told investigators she had become "enraged and angered" at her adoptive daughter, The Washington Post reported in Friday's editions.
According to a criminal complaint, Hilt told police she "shook (Nina), dropped her on the floor, kicked her stomach, picked her up, put her in her bed, and continued to strike her with a closed right fist on her back and stomach."
Hilt is being held without bond in the Prince William County jail. A court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 2.
Hilt's arrest comes just weeks after Russian authorities stripped three U.S. adoption agencies of their accreditation, saying they failed to monitor the children.
In Moscow, prosecutors said they would investigate the legality of Nina's adoption from her home region of Irkutsk in Siberia to see whether the U.S. follow-up complied with Russian law.
