A Tale of Peter Rabbit

Karys’ first grade class this morning presented a little play called “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”.

Karys was mother rabbit. A role which, if you know her at all, fits just perfectly.

Just ask this little fellow who didn’t do something the instant he was supposed to.

I took my delicious McDonalds medium coffee with 3 creams and 3 sugars (plus some once I brought it home) with me to the school. Knowing full well, of course, that it would aggravate Karys because she a-l-w-a-y-s wants a coffee when I get one.

So at the opportune moment when she happened to look our way, I raised my coffee in a toast.

Behold. The ‘stink eye’.

I wuv that wascally wabbit. Even when she does try to steal my coffee.

Turn that frown upside down

Karys was in one of T-H-O-S-E moods this morning before we left for church.

And of course the children’s choir - of which Eliana and Karys are a part - was to sing a couple of songs in the 11:00 am service.

So we had a little father-daughter heart-to-heart. Let’s just say it was a preventive measure.

And it worked for the most part.

Although there was a moment where Karys’ little buddy, Nicole, had to help turn that frown upside-down.

Conversation

We enjoyed food and fellowship tonight with some friends.

These two little buddies stole a moment together and were having a deep conversation.

When you’re 18

There’s a boy in Karys’ after-school group whose family is Filipino.

She has remarked (a lot) more than once that this little fella is “cute” and “hot”.

When I dropped by to pick Karys up this afternoon, she h-a-a-a-a-a-d to chase this little fella around the playground just o-o-o-o-o-n-e more time before we left.

Which she did. And with a huge smile on her face the entire time.

Once the two had sufficiently worn themselves out and voiced their goodbyes, Karys and I started walking off.

“Dad?”

“Yeah?”

“Can I kiss him?”

“When you’re 18.”

We had a little visitor outside of our bedroom window this morning.

Old fashioned

Karys is a blue jeans kinda girl. She loves some denim.

But occasionally she strays from the norm. Like this morning. She had on a little outfit with black leggings that she wore in this series of photos.

As Karys stumbled up to the breakfast table, Zane - who was already sitting down - looked at her and asked, “Why are you dressed kinda old-fashioned?”

I defended her quickly in an effort to avoid a scene so early in the day. Because Lord knows… with Karys, it doesn’t take much to be the recipient of her “stink eye”.

“She is not dressed old-fashioned. She’s just wearing something different.”

“Well, it kinda looks like it’s from the 80s or something.”
