On to something here
Carmi frequently tells the kiddos to discover what they really, really like to do and then, when they get older, find a way to make money doing it.
Well… poor Zane. I’ve not seen that young man, in the 2 years he’s been home, get very excited about anything.
I call him Mr. Mellow.
But he surprised me earlier today. I overheard him talking to Eliana and say that he would like to design video games.
He does have an artistic flair. And Lord knows he likes playing games on the ‘puter.
So I think we may be on to something here.

Dunked

Karys accepted Christ on Sunday, February 14th and she was dunked during our 11:00 am service.

Bullet train 6.21.11
- Karys introduced me to her new friend when I picked her up at camp this afternoon.
- Then she asked if they could have a playdate.
- She works fast.
- I registered all 3 kiddos for swimming lessons this summer.
- I didn’t check our calendar first or I would have seen that Eliana and Karys have choir camp the second week of swimming lessons.
- We have not paid for choir camp yet so the swimming lessons win out.
- Eliana asked me tonight how wigs are made.
- Could I have another question?
- We had been talking about Locks of Love.
- Then Eliana surmised that wigs are just caps with hair.

Fading fast
The kiddos are home from their first afternoon at summer camp.
While we haven’t gotten much info out of them, first impressions are that they all had a fun time.
When I arrived at the park and stepped out of the van to get Karys, she started running towards me as a little girl called her name.
Karys did a quick 180, hustled back and the two girls gave each other a big hug.
“Did that little girl go to your school?”, I asked.
“No”, she said. “I just met her today.”
That’s our little social butterfly.
But poor Karys… I think she’s fading fast.
Which was expected after an hour in the pool.

Mom’s special day
Today is mom’s birthday. And to celebrate, my sisters put together a little gathering at mom’s house from 11:00 to 1:00.
Mom was missing just a few candles on her cake. But we won’t mention specific numbers.
The kids lasted inside just long enough to grab some food and then they needed to head for the great outdoors.
Was Zane striking a pose?
Oh, no. They’re just checking out the ball that Zane kicked into the very tippy-top of a tree in mom’s backyard.
Gran’mom had to wrestle a smile out of Eliana.
Then we got the million dollar shot.
Happy Birthday, Mom. We sure do love you.
{extended}Growth spurts
Karys, especially, has been complaining for the last few weeks about pain in her legs. So we knew that she was probably going through a growth spurt.
Little did we know that all 3 kiddos have been eating Miracle-Gro lately.
In the last 2 months, Zane has grown 5/8” and now stands at 62” or 5’ 2”.
For anyone in our house who’s keeping track, that’s just 1” shorter than his mom! And that means he’s grown 7-1/4” since coming home 2 years and 3 months ago.
Karys has grown 1-1/4” since April and is now 45-1/4” or 3’ 9-1/4”. She’s only 1/2” shorter than Eliana was at the same age.
And Eliana? That girl, in the same time period, has grown 1-1/2”! She now measures 53-3/4” or 4’ 5-3/4”.
She’s only 3/4” shorter than Zane was when he first came home. But more importantly to her, she’s only 1/4” away from being able to ride any and all rides at Carowinds. And actually, with shoes on, she’ll make it.
They’ll all need a new wardrobe when school starts back in August. Yikes!

Water pistol fight
The care we have lined up for the kiddos this summer doesn’t start until next week so we’re kinda making do this week.
I took the afternoon off today and we had a water pistol fight.
Well… Zane and Eliana and I did.
Karys? She stayed out for the first few minutes and then made a beeline for the safety of the living room.

Like a rockstar
I came in from running tonight and Karys avoided me like the plague.
She and sweat - at least on me - just do not mix.
So while Carmi and the kids watched a movie after dinner, I jumped in the shower.
When I finished, I went out in the living room and sat down on the couch beside Karys who shot me an uncertain glance.
But she leaned over and sniffed my arm and said, “Mmmmmm. You smell like a ROCKSTAR!”
