Five words

There are 4 words that describe me perfectly right now.

Diarrhea. Fever. Chills. Aches.

No… let’s add 1 more for good measure…

Bleck!

Everybody was kung fu fighting

I had to take Eliana outside today because it was such a beautiful afternoon.

To expend some of her pent-up energy, she practiced kung fu.

On a tree.

Carmi and I need to figure out some way to get this girl signed up for classes.

And just between you and me…

I think she could whip some booty.

School on Saturday

Poor kids.

They had to go to school today.

Actually I’m not sure who deserved more pity… the kids because they had school on a Saturday or the parents because we had to get up EARLY on a Saturday to take the kids to school?

I betcha they might not be q-u-i-t-e as excited the next time classes are cancelled because of snow or ice.

Panning for gold

I wasn’t supposed to drive any today because of the sedatives the hospital gave me yesterday for my procedure.

So I sat around and drank water all day. And tinkled in a strainer.

And drank more water. And tinkled in a strainer.

I felt like I was panning for gold.

And finally… FINALLY… this tiniest of tiny fragments came out.

Based on the estimated size of the original, there’s probably only a hundred or so to go.

A small price to pay

Sorry for the blogs little disappearing act today.

It kinda actually disappeared last night. I was upgrading our blog software to the latest and greatest version and… well… there was a hiccup. And by this point I was so doped up on Oxycodone that I could barely see straight. So I said “to heck with it” and went to bed.

Oxycodone?

Yeah. You see,  I’ve had this little visitor in my kidney since w-e-l-l before Christmas. And things have gotten pretty ugly between us in the last 2 weeks. Really ugly. And even more painful.

A trip to the urologist revealed that my “little” visitor was 8mm long which, interpreted, is 5/16”. And my little visitor was stuck. And not going anywhere. Anytime soon.

So Oxycodone became my friend. Until today.

Today I saw my urologist again and he performed a lithotripsy which, interpreted, is a shockwave treatment to blast my little buddy into many, many much tinier pieces. Pieces that could (more) easily be passed.

The procedure was a “smashing” success {pardon the pun}.

And I feel so much better except for my poor left (butt) cheek which feels somewhat abused.

Have you ever been popped by a rubber band on your back?

That’s kinda what the process felt like this afternoon. Except that I was popped 4000 times in the span of around 45 minutes.

But what a small price to pay to be rid of an unwanted guest once and for all.

Badminton, anyone?

The kiddos wanted to get outside a bit this afternoon and play some badminton.

Well… Eliana and Zane did.

Karys was more interested in “hiking” the birdie to me like a football.

2011 father-daughter dance

Eliana and Karys’ school had their annual father-daughter dance tonight.

Eliana would have nothing to do with it. She’s been disinterested all 4 years that she’s been in that school.

But Karys? The girl begged to go. B-e-g-g-e-d.

I knew this was right up her alley. Getting dressed up. Socializing.

So I took her.

And while the two of us did dance together a time or two, I spent most of the evening listening to our little 5-year-old social butterfly squeal with delight and watched as she thoroughly enjoyed being with her friends.

Sledding fun

Some friends came over and we went sledding around mid-to-late afternoon.

Karys wasn’t too interested in it this time. She was quite content to keep an eye on everybody from the top of the hill.

Snow leads to conversation

The kiddos were snowed in today {awww} so we skyped with Aunt Kerry who was also snowed in {awww}.

And I just realized how much older Zane is beginning to look. Maybe it’s the glasses?
