Girly time

Do you know where our girls are?
It’s 11:30 on Saturday morning and do you know where our girls are?
Still in the bed. Actually asleep. Both of them.

The girls’ domain
Eliana and Karys are now the proud owners of their very own little slice of the world wide web.
I recently registered ‘elianahenderson.com’ and ‘karyshenderson.com’ as a testament to my nerdiness. The domains will remain parked indefinitely, however, as there are no immediate plans for their use.

Easter party 2008
Our church threw an annual Easter party for the community today. There was an easter egg hunt, a bouncy thing, a slidey thing and food (of course).
Karys was a little unsure of the slidey thing in the beginning. Once she came down the first time, though, it was hard to keep her off.

6 months with Karys
I was just about to forget that Karys became a part of our family 6 months ago today.
Bad daddy! Bad daddy!
We sure do love you little monkey.

LOI #2 to China
The agency mailed our Letter of Intent to China today.
That is a nice birthday present.
Fly, paper, fly!
{extended}Do I feel older?
This is a special day because some very important people were born on March 14th.
Let’s see…Albert Einstein in 1879, composer Quincy Jones in 1933, actor-comedian Billy Crystal in 1947, baseball star Kirby Puckett in 1961 and…oh looky…Doug Henderson in 1963. Pretty impressive company there.
Yep, I turned 4 *cough* 5 *cough* today.
Do I feel older? Honestly, I really only notice e-v-e-r-y morning when I get out of bed or when I get out of a chair after sitting for 2 minutes.
Creaky bones don’t lie.

Got Nike?
I was talking with a buddy of mine this morning who told me the following ‘you’re not going to believe this’ story:
Back in the Fall of 1985, he purchased a new and unused pair of Nike Air Jordans - first released in March of 1985 - at a yard sale. The store tag was still attached to the shoes and revealed an original retail price of $69.95 but he only paid $10. His intent was to wear them but a little voice whispered, “Keep them. They may be worth something one day.”
Lucky for him, he listened.
On a whim, he recently shipped the shoes to a company who verified that the shoes were indeed authentic and placed an ad for them on Ebay. A gentleman from Australia won the bidding war and paid…drum roll please…$3,950! I’d say that was a great investment my buddy made.
If only I had liked Michael Jordan back in the day.

LOI #2 to agency
I mailed a little packet to the agency this afternoon containing our signed “Letter of Intent” to adopt and “Information about the Prospective Adoptive Parents”.
The documents will be translated into Chinese and then sent on their merry way.
{extended}8 more years
I took a little side trip to the DMV office this afternoon and renewed my driver’s license despite the instructor’s best effort to thwart me.
She took a ‘yield’ sign, turned it on it’s side and tried to convince me that it was a ‘no passing zone’.
Her feeble attempt at deception is all that stood between me and a perfect score. Tsk tsk. What will they come up with in 8 more years?
