Time to Move Her to a Day Bed
Since Eliana comes within about 2 inches of filling up her crib, we decided it was time to move her to a day bed.
Plus she needed more room for her stuffed animals and dolls. What you see in the picture is only a part of her collection.
Plus her little sister will need a bed of her own.
The Empress has actually been sleeping in the day bed for several weeks now but this is a new comforter that Carmi bought her for Christmas. Beneath the comforter is a Dora sheet.

Hook This Bad Boy Up
Around mid-afternoon I braved traffic and took a road trip down to Charlotte with a guy from church who plays the drums in our praise band. We walked into a store called Sam Ash and exited an hour later with a brand spankin' new toy. I purchased for the church a Roland TD-3SV compact electronic drum set. Can't wait to hook this bad boy up tomorrow and give it a workout.

She Walked Away With Some Candy
I took the afternoon off so I went by the daycare provider's house, picked Eliana up and we headed over to Gran'mommy's for lunch. Afterwards there were a handful of errands I needed to run.One particular errand was a stop at the bank. As soon as the Empress hears the work 'bank' she asks, "Can I have a sucker"? No teller with half a heart can resist such a request from a child so of course she walked away with some candy...and the tongue to prove it.

I Hope They’re Right
As soon as I brought Eliana home after work, she headed straight for her little yellow table in the living room and began to color. I headed straight for the kitchen and began preparing supper so we could eat when Carmi came home. Before long, she began to lightly sing and I stopped what I was doing to listen. The tune was unrecognizable at first because her voice was so soft but as I strained to hear through the wall, the words from our Baptist hymnal shortly made sense to me:
Standing on the promises of God my Savior
Standing, standing
I'm standing on the promises of God
There is something very peaceful and reassuring about hearing Eliana sing, which she does quite frequently. Some would say that singing indicates a happy child. I hope they're right. {extended}

Don’t Fall Asleep
Word to the wise…don’t fall asleep when Eliana is around with a page full of stickers.

1993 Chinese Barbie
Eliana poses with one of her Christmas presents. This is a 1993 Chinese Barbie in the original unopened box (which is no longer unopened). From what I can tell, this was the first Chinese Barbie in the 'Dolls of the World' collection.

My Christmas Miracle
Carmi had to work today. While I didn’t, I still roused out of bed about the same time as usual during the week because I had a ‘mission impossible’...to finish my Christmas shopping.
Armed with a list (in my head) and a full tank of gas, I was off to battle with crazy women pushing carts. Good news is…after 8 hours, the mission is accomplished! Bad news is…success came at a price.
Mix a dislike for shopping with an intense disdain for traffic and the stress of a looming deadline and you have a lethal combination. Right now the pain in my back is unbearable but I’m trying to look on the bright side. I don’t have to shop on Christmas Eve for the first time in several years.
This is my Christmas miracle.

Stuff The Goodie Bags
Carmi and Eliana worked hard tonight putting together little Christmas presents for her preschool classmates and teachers.
Eliana’s job was to stuff the goodie bags which kept her busy for a short while.

Our Prayers Go Out
We received some sad news this evening.
Carmi’s mother went on a week-long mission trip to the island of Bimini in the Bahamas back during the summer. Nancy-Coe called and told us that the Southern Baptist missionary on Bimini was a passenger aboard the seaplane that crashed off the coast of Miami earlier today. There were no survivors.
Our prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones.

My First Musical Production
I'm breathing a HUGE sigh of relief right now. Our Sanctuary Choir presented their Christmas musical entitled 'Old Fashioned Christmas' during the evening service. As interim Worship Leader, this was my first musical production and I must say that it went quite well. Except for the one song where I brought the choir in one measure too soon but we recovered just fine and I'm not sure that anybody else noticed. That's always a good thing! We met at 4:00 for a run-through before the program started at 6:00. After we finished, the choir presented me with a Christmas gift which was totally unexpected - a book that I have been wanting called River Town : Two Years on the Yangtze
Now I might be able to relax and enjoy the holidays. After the first of the new year, though, it will be time to start thinking about Easter. Oh man... {extended}

She Didn’t Show Her Pearly Whites
Carmi’s family celebrated Christmas this afternoon. We enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared by Aunt Molly at her house and then we exchanged gifts.
Along with clothes, Eliana also received some books which she always loves to get.
Uncle Chuck scored major brownie points by reading to her out of Dora’s Big Book of Stories. There are seven stories in this one book and I think the poor guy read every single one.
Before everyone left, the obligatory family photos were taken. The Empress was not interested in cooperating and therefore she didn’t show her pearly whites.

Straight Out Of Southern Living
After putting up the Christmas village that we’ve decorated with for the past few years, Carmi decided that a change was in order.
So… being the ‘crafty’ person that she is, she created her own.
Take some wooden birdhouses, glue, paint and glitter and VOILA! Looks like something straight out of Southern Living.
