Where have you been, neti?

Snot.

Naw, I’m not upset.

It’s something I live with.

Every. Single. Day.

I remember clogged sinuses all the way back in middle school. Some 30 years ago.

The problem was so severe that I actually became addicted to nose drops. Getting weaned off that stuff was a nightmare.

Antibiotics, Sudafed, allergy meds, steam and Puffs have all helped me cope.

Now there’s a new tool in my arsenal. And it’s called the neti pot.

I’m not sure I’d heard of the neti pot until a few weeks ago.

One of the guys that sings with me said he bought one at Wal-Mart and was amazed with the results.

So I bought one last weekend and used it for the first time earlier this afternoon.

A strange sensation, to say the least. But my sinuses did open up so we’ll see how it goes over the long haul.

Click here and watch the neti in action.

It can be disturbing. In a funny kind of way.

Have you ever used a neti pot?

Doug,
I saw a neti pot on Oprah a few years ago (don’t worry, I can’t stand to watch her now!) and bought two of them!  We use them all the time.  I have my 7 year old using it, too.  It also helps to ward off the flu.
Hang in there- you’ll get use to it and then won’t be able to live with out it!
Have fun!

I saw one YouTube video where a dude used coffee instead of the saline solution.

I’m pretty sure he swallowed some of it too.

Hey, I’m right there with you on the sinus thing.  It’s cruel and unusual punishment in my book.  I, too, tried everything and have had several surgeries to boot!  I haven’t tried the neti, but I do have the “NeilMed Sinuflow” bottle.  It does the same thing as the neti but I can handle it a little easier.  Mine are so bad though, that I’m on a perscribed nasal spray called “Omnaris”.  It’s expensive…but it began working almost immediately!  So good luck.  It ain’t fun!

Just a note, I read recently that daily Neti usage can lead to infections, so use carefully.
