19 Reasons That I Love My Wife

posted by Doug on Tue Nov 15, 2005 at 11:31 am | 6 comments
Today is our 19th wedding anniversary. It truly seems like only yesterday we walked down the aisle at church and committed our lives to each other. The first couple of years were extremely tough but we weathered the storm. That's not to say that we don't have our rough spots now, but I love my wife more and am more committed to her TODAY than when we said "I do" on November 15, 1986.

In honor of this special day, may I present to you 19 reasons that I love my wife. These reasons are in no particular order and are not the ONLY reasons...just the ones that first came to mind.

  1. She loves me...and this should be reason enough.
  2. She is warm and soft.
  3. Her hands fit perfectly in mine.
  4. Her neck is oh so kissable and she lets me kiss it even at the most inopportune moments...but only at home.
  5. She is a great cook.
  6. She sings, especially with our daughter, even though she feels that she can't.
  7. She loves reading to our daughter.
  8. She loves my family.
  9. She is tough on the outside but tender-hearted on the inside and cries easily.
  10. I have a difficult time falling asleep in bed if she's not home.
  11. I can't imagine life without her.
  12. She is beautiful.
  13. She loves to read the Bible.
  14. She is a Christian.
  15. She is very smart.
  16. She always wants to look her best.
  17. The Bible tells me to.
  18. I get lost in her eyes.
  19. She brags about me to friends and family.

Good Fortune Smiled On One Of Us Today

"Luck" is not a word that is synonymous with the Henderson family.

Sure, Mom and Dad won a television set in a drawing that was too long ago to count. But good fortune smiled on one of us today.

Two weeks ago, the company that manages the building in which Carmi works provided a breakfast for all the tenants. They had a couple of tables set up to collect names that would be entered in drawings for prizes. Goody baskets were on the tables so Carmi thought they would go to some lucky winners. They were, in fact, A prize but not THE grand prize. Oh, no. Carmi received word today that she had won the grand prize which was...drum roll please...a free, one-year membership to the YMCA!

There happens to be a YMCA in the bottom floor of Carmi's work building which works out really great for her. But the best part of all is that the membership is a "metro" membership which means that she could also use the YMCA here in town.

Now if I could just win ME one, we would be set.

100 Whine-Free Miles

imageWe thank the Lord for bringing us home safely from Knoxville. We also thank Panasonic for this wonder of modern technology that gave us 100 whine-free miles. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Eliana slept for the first 2-1/2 hours of our trip. When she did finally wake up, Carmi put the headphones on her and popped The Emperor's New Groove into the portable DVD player and the Empress was one happy camper. I would be driving along and every few minutes she would giggle and Carmi and I couldn't help but giggle ourselves. There is something very comforting about hearing your child laugh.

This player is a loaner but I'm pretty sure we'll purchase one of our own. We'll definitely have one to take to China next year!

I Could Almost Believe That One

Our daughter has said some pretty outlandish things before but tonight she came up with a brand new one.

We were all sitting around the dinner table and preparing to enjoy a wonderful meal that Christine had prepared. I always ask Eliana if she would like to say the blessing over our meal. Sometimes she will do it without hesitation but tonight she responded with a frown and a long, drawn out "nooooo" accompanied by a shake of the head in the negative. Don asked, "Why don't you want to say the blessing"? Eliana responded with, "Because my lips hurt".

I could almost believe that one as much as the Empress likes to talk!
