Eliana is giving Carmi some help in the kitchen tonight. At the rate she's going, the Empress may not need a bath later.

Guess We’ll Have To Start Hiding The Car Keys

Sun Nov 6, 2005 at 4:57 pm | Eliana-isms | 0 comments
The men of our church were having breakfast in the fellowship hall this morning so I was leaving the house even earlier than usual for a Sunday. As I made final preparations to go, I heard the Little Empress come running through the house and crawl up into our bed with Carmi. She was fast asleep again when the time came for goodbye kisses.

Carmi later told me that they slept for about an hour after I left before trying to rouse themselves. They lay in the bed for a while and talked and laughed but it wasn't long before Eliana had enough. She was ready to go and Mommie was taking too much time.

She looked at Carmi and said, "You're being lazy. You want me to leave you here and just drive myself to church?"

Guess we'll have to start hiding the car keys.

This Beauty Was Floating Over The House

Carmi had just stepped outside to water some trees in the front yard when she tap, tap, tapped on the bedroom window. As I looked out, she pointed up to today's clear, blue sky and this beauty was floating over the house. They were close enough that we could easily hear the propane burner firing up to heat the air inside the balloon.

What A Sweetie

Sat Nov 5, 2005 at 11:18 am | I Heart Eliana | 0 comments
Eliana came and crawled in bed with us this morning.

I was still asleep when she first came in but at some point she woke me up with a soft pat on the shoulder. When I roused, she leaned over and in her soft, little voice asked, "Dad, do you want me to scratch your back"?

What a sweetie...and what a good start to the day...

A Simple Experiment With No Redeeming Social Value

Thu Nov 3, 2005 at 12:57 am | 0 comments
OK...this is a simple experiment with no redeeming social value but interesting nonetheless.

1 - Sit in a chair and raise your right foot off the ground.

2 - Rotate your foot in a clockwise circle.

3 - Now draw a number 6 in the air.

Did your foot begin to circle counterclockwise? If you're like me, you'll sit there exerting a tremendous amount of concentration and effort until you manage to keep your foot circling clockwise at least once.

Maddening...isn't it?!?

I Wanna Go Night-Night

Wed Nov 2, 2005 at 12:01 am | Eliana-isms | 0 comments
Eliana loves to play on my laptop. Every day she asks to play and this would not be the day that the string is broken. As soon as she walked into the house this afternoon, it started.

"Dad, I wanna play on your 'puter."

"You can, sweetheart, but not right now."

"But Dad, I wanna play on your 'puter."

"I know you do, sweetheart, but not right now."

"Ohhhh...Daddy...I wanna play!"

"We're not gonna play right now. I'll let you play a little bit before you go to bed tonight."

Well, that seemed to satisfy temporarily. She busied herself with the coloring book and I settled into my recliner for some channel surfing. Maybe 30 minutes later, I pulled myself out of the chair and headed for the kitchen to start supper. A few minutes passed and Eliana rounded the corner from the living room, rubbing her eyes.

"Dad, I wanna go night-night."

She couldn't keep a straight face and started to giggle.

I Created A Frappr Group

Tue Nov 1, 2005 at 6:17 pm | Announcements | 0 comments
All the cool kids in the blogosphere are doing it and I wish I were as cool as they are, so I created a Frappr group to see where our readers are from.

What is Frappr, you ask??

Frappr, or the friend mapper, is a great little site that uses Google maps to let you see friends or places worldwide at a single glance.

If you haven't added yourself - and that's probably everybody reading this - head on over to our group page and make yourself known. All you have to do is enter a ZIP code or the city closest to you along with your name, optional picture and a “shout out” or comment.

Bu-bye!
