Karys is potty trained

With my fingers crossed, I wish to announce that we believe Karys to be officially potty trained.

She has been wearing “big girl panties” exclusively for a number of weeks now. Well, during the day at least. We’ve still been putting a diaper on at night but she has been dry most mornings here lately.

Eliana was potty trained at around 3-1/2 so Karys is following closely in big sister’s footsteps.

Karys is so proud of herself. She’ll encounter a total stranger (a waitress or store clerk, for example) and enthusiastically proclaim, “I pee-pee potty!” or “I poopy potty!”

Occasionally she’ll mix things up with, “Daddy pee-pee potty!” or “Daddy poopy potty!” followed by “Daddy big boy”.

She likes to brag on me.

Another one bites the dust

Eliana pulled a second tooth herself after we came home from church.

I couldn’t stand to watch.

Oops, there it is…

Karys and Eliana were loving on each other this evening and telling each other goodnight when Karys accidentally headbutted Eliana in the mouth. Just like that, one of Eliana’s loose teeth was no longer attached to her body.

Been a l-o-n-g time since that tooth fairy has been around.

I wonder what the going rate is these days?

First day of kindergarten

Today was Eliana’s first day at kindergarten. Carmi and I were a little later than usual getting to work this morning so we could walk Eliana to school and take her to her room.

As we approached the building, we saw one of Eliana’s best friends from preschool - who also happens to be in Eliana’s class - getting out of her mom’s car and I yelled to get their attention. When the friend saw us, she came running across the school yard yelling “Eliana! Eliana!” It was pretty sweet as they walked in together holding hands.

The kids in kindergarten are having a staggered start week. Today was the only day this week that Eliana goes to school. It was a full day but the first official week starts next Tuesday.

I guess she had a good day. I haven’t been able to pull much information out of her. Maybe mom will have better luck when she gets home.

Done deal

Carmi was off today so she took Eliana to a shop called ‘Club Libby Lu’ this afternoon where Eliana had both of her ears pierced. Carmi said our big girl handled the situation very well.

I think I’ll be OK after a few days [sniff]

Today Is Different

This is an amazing picture!

Eliana has been in our home for three years. And for three years, Frosty the cat ran for cover whenever the Empress came within ten feet.

No...I take that back.

If Frosty heard Eliana talking loudly in the next room, the cat would flee as though one of her nine lives depended on it.

But today...all of a sudden...today is different.

P.S. No, the cat is not asleep. The flash always catches her with her eyes closed.

She Was Quite Proud Of Herself

Eliana's preschool has started grading the children daily on their behavior.

Do they keep hands and feet to themselves?

Do they listen to and follow directions the first time directions are given?

Do they use classroom and playground equipment properly?

If, at the end of each day, a child has performed well in all 3 areas, that child gets a green light colored in on their stoplight. If the child struggled in one area, a yellow light is colored in. But if a child has a problem in two or more areas, the child gets a red light. Parents are required to initial each day and return the sheet in their child's bag.

By the end of this first week, Eliana has received a green light every single day! She was quite proud of herself and we're proud of her too. That's a great looking report card Little Empress!
